MeerLICHT is a custom-built, robotic 0.65-m telescope with a 2.7 square degree field of view and a single 100 megapixel CCD camera. MeerLICHT will receive its pointing information from the MeerKAT radio telescope array, thereby matching the MeerKAT observing schedule in real-time (at night time only).
A full description of MeerLICHT and BlackGEM was presented by the Project Manager, Dr Steven Bloemen, at the 2016 Edinburgh SPIE conference.
